A humanistic energy community of a humanistic Medicean village, dedicated to the creation of an energy self-sufficiency plan, represents an innovative and participatory model of energy resource management, based on the humanistic values of sustainability, collaboration and collective well-being. This community works in synergy with the Municipality to promote the energy transition of the village, through an agreement with an ESCO (Energy Service Company), and aims to guarantee a renewable, sustainable and fair energy supply, which initially involves the municipal assets and subsequently the members of the community themselves.
One of the tasks of the Humanistic Vicar or the Humanistic Civic Council is therefore to create an energetic humanistic community with such characteristics
Description of the Humanistic Energy Community and the Energy Self-Sufficiency Plan
1. Collaboration with the Municipality for the Energy Transition
- The humanistic energy community is committed to working with the municipal government to develop an energy self-sufficiency plan that will make the village a model of sustainability. The first step is to facilitate an agreement between the Municipality and an ESCO company, specialized in energy services, for the creation of a renewable energy production system.
- The agreement requires the ESCO company to finance and install renewable energy production systems (such as solar, wind or geothermal systems) on municipal buildings and land, guaranteeing the village a source of clean energy and reducing dependence on traditional sources.
2. Innovative Financing and Circular Economy Model
- The ESCO contract is structured so that the company finances the construction of the facilities in exchange for a long-term energy supply agreement. The initial installation costs are covered by the ESCO, which is remunerated through energy savings and energy production over time, creating an innovative financing model that does not immediately burden the city finances or community members.
- This approach supports a circular economy model, where energy savings are reinvested to expand the project for the benefit of the community.
3. Second Phase: Extension to the Community’s Private Properties
- Once the renewable energy production system on municipal properties has been implemented, the plan includes a second phase that extends the installation of renewable energy systems to the properties and private lands of members of the humanistic energy community.
- Community members who have joined voluntarily will be able to benefit from the support of the ESCO to install solar panels, wind farms or other energy solutions on their properties. This approach allows for widespread diffusion of renewable energy production in the village, creating a distributed and participatory energy network.
4. Active Community Participation and Energy Sharing Model
- The humanistic energy community promotes the active participation of citizens, who not only benefit from the energy produced, but contribute to a shared energy network. Through the creation of a local energy community, excess energy produced by the plants can be exchanged between the various members of the community, thus ensuring a fair distribution of resources.
